An imperial, national and state debate : the rise and near fall of the Australian forestry school, 1927-1945

    Abstract

    The article discusses the combative debates throughout Australian Forestry School in Australia from 1927-1945. It illuminates the different beliefs of Australian people concerning the forestry education and conservation policy. It states that a controversial American forester Charles Edward Lane Poole has lobbied for the school's creation and headed it for several years. In addition, the government's Commonwealth supported the variety of financial hardships and state criticisms of school from 1920s to 1940s.
