Abstract
Madison Shakespeare considers why privileging Indigenous Custodianship of Country is strategic in realising the perpetuity of long-term planetary wellbeing for all communities globally. She argues that a new approach to COP is required that would involve the creation of a Co-President role specific to Indigenous Peoples to ensure that First Nations leadership occurs at the most senior level of the most supreme decision making body of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change.
