Abstract

The author explores the phenomenon of animal rights extremism (ARE) in the U.S. He propose a taxonomy for ARE considering the three distinct categories of extremist actions such as attacks on property, attacks on persons, and attacks which simultaneously target both property and person. Furthermore, the author examines whether ARE qualifies as terrorism with reference to numerous conditions for terrorism that have been presented in the contemporary literature.
