Abstract
![CDATA[The widespread adoption of Web services promises to usher in an exciting new generation of advanced distributed applications. Replication of Web documents can improve both performance and reliability of the Web service. Response time is a key differentiation point among electronic commerce (e-commerce) applications. In this paper, we analyze the factors that impact the performance and scalability of a database-driven Web site. We consider the problem of on-line workflow database reorganization. We present an algorithm for maintaining the biconnected components of a graph during a sequence of edge insertions and deletions. We complement our algorithms with encouraging experimental results.]]
