Abstract
In the Australian component of the international research described in this book, complementary qualitative techniques – a literature and policy review and interviews with policy makers and children – were used to explore the ways in which the participatory principles are implemented in Australia, particularly in New South Wales. The researchers examined the ways in which the participation of children and young people in Australia is presented in readily accessible policy documents and associated literature. As a number of organisations in Australia promote the way children participate in their programs on the web as well as in other literature, a review of these sources provided important information on the state of children’s participation in Australia.
