N2 - The cultural translation of any given society to people abroad is a complex task that moves far beyond any tourist brochure or internet video. It is a multifaceted effort that requires a specific sociological lens from someone who is immersed in this culture and is able to convey specific features of that culture to 'outsiders'. Hence, potential visitors may deepen their knowledge of that society, moving past a tokenistic view that is common when given a general perspective of a country. HistÀ³rias Australianas addresses these concerns and fill this gap by providing an in-depth multilayered sociological view of Australian cultural structures, educational systems, and sporting traditions. The chapters in the book not only describe relevant facets of life in Australia, they are informed by a narrative-research method that offers a unique and detailed analysis of different aspects of Australian society. The themes investigated in the book produce interesting and original insights that add to the reader's understandings of the living cultures of Australia, and also provoke the reader's sociological and historical imagination to further their knowledge about an array of cultural, educational and sporting practices that are mostly unknown around the globe. The chapters of the book are divided into three parts" culture, education, and sport" which are relevant to readers who are interested in gaining a deep appreciation of Australia and its people. The cultural depth emanating from the book provides a detailed account of the life of everyday Australians within their culturally diverse communities. The narratives favour not only an in-depth understanding of the 'Australian way-of-life' but also serve as a call for action for additional studies that can further translate this unique and complex life to the world.
