Abstract
IoT devices are more integrated into our lives than ever, thanks to smart applications and services. These applications and services demand vast amounts of data, which often jeopardizes the security and privacy of relevant stakeholders. More concerning is their use of lightweight cryptographic solutions to protect the confidentiality and integrity of the data. Additionally, the advent of quantum computing, emblemed with superior computation power, has put the secrecy and efficiency of lightweight algorithms at risk. As a result, we need new authentication solutions to deal with IoT applications and services. To this end, this chapter explores pre‐ and post‐quantum authentication techniques to address the challenges of the upcoming post‐quantum era.
