Abstract
The concept of authority runs through the Theological-Political Treatise, working through all its important concepts. To grasp what is at stake with the concept of authority, as it is used by Spinoza, we can start by noting a peculiar resonance with the concept of divine law. Specifically, both are excessive of human law.
