Barriers to knowledge management in higher educational institutions : a Delphi study

Abstract

![CDATA[The study examines the expected barriers for knowledge management (KM) implementation at King Fahd Security College (KFSC) in Saudi Arabia. The population of this study comprise a group of 35 experts at KFSC. Delphi method was used to collect data through two rounds. An open questionnaire was distributed in the first round and was answered by 35 experts. Their responses were analysed and formulated into tables. After that, the second-round questionnaire was created and distributed, of which 33 experts answered and by which the study ended. According to the experts, the Barriers of (KM) implementation are that there was a set of constraints that could impede the success of (KM) application; such as the few numbers of individuals specialized in (KM), the ignorance of other people's thoughts, poor documentation and codification of tacit knowledge from colleagues experience, skills and innovations, Lack of spirit of teamwork, the monopoly of knowledge, and management constraints in the military culture.]]
