Abstract

![CDATA[The advances in energy storage and PV solar system increased the interest in stand-alone systems. The main elements of stand-alone PV solar system are: Solar panels, Charger controller, inverter and energy storage in the form of batteries. As the system form the sole energy source to the house, it must be designed and installed to ensure continuous operation under different loading scenario. Also, the installed electrical apparatuses and its operating sequence play an important role to ensure the system support the house without malfunction or loss of electrical power. The paper addresses the battery storage requirements for the stand alone house focusing on the type, size and operational sequence of the proposed electrical apparatuses. The works highlight the relation between the available stored energy and the size/operational sequence of the house electrical equipment. A case study is also included.]]
