Abstract
Beach tourism is a product of Western modernity that includes a range of leisure practices associated with the coast. These practices are shaped by transnational as well as local influences and are dynamic and fluid. The majority of studies on beach tourism address aspects of marketing, economic growth, and sustainable practices.
