Behaviour of concrete-filled stiffened thin-walled steel columns after exposure to fire

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperConference Paperpeer-review

Abstract

This paper presents an experimental investigation on concrete-filled stiffened thin-walled steel columns after exposure to standard fire. Four stub columns and sixteen beam-columns with or without welded stiffeners were tested. The test results show that the ultimate strength of these composite columns decreased significantly after exposure to fire. However, the strength loss for most stiffened columns was slightly higher than that of those conventional columns. Furthermore, the strength loss increased with increasing slenderness, but it decreased with an increase in load eccentricity.
