Abstract

This Evidence Check review was commissioned by the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) to examine the evidence on what is known about the provision of chronic disease programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The focus is on secondary and tertiary prevention and management of chronic disease. The review’s authors peer-reviewed literature in seven literature databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Global Health, ATSI Health, AIATSIS and Cinahl) and screened to explore programs or services for the prevention and management of chronic disease for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples that have been evaluated and shown to be effective in reducing risk or in having a positive outcome for disease management. The authors selected 35 papers for the review.
