Abstract

The Cathedral Singers, a Sydney-based choir, toured to the UK to sing in cathedrals in August 2011. One of the Choir's committee members, Madeleine Rowles, thought it would be a good idea to have a blessing the choir could sing a sort of musical 'thank you' to those who had been kind to the choir or given hospitality or the like. With that, author Dr Rita Crews and composer Dr Brett McKern were approached. Although a simple verse was all that was envisaged, Dr Crews kindly supplied several options. Rather than one, two were selected (Blessings 1 and 4) for use by the choir, but Dr McKern was delighted with the texts and has set all four of them as a set. It is this set that is presented here. Duration 3 minutes, 25 seconds. Contents note: A welcome blessing -- Take His hand -- Eternal peace and joy -- The circle of His love.
