Abstract
Bloodbath features 5 artists, who work with data visualisation and or the body, each create a work that responds to live incoming data from collisions in a Sydney Roller Derby League, all-girl flat track roller derby game. Sensors attached to players send information to a server. The server sends that data on to the artworks. Bloodbath Live Event, October 2010, Hordern Pavilion, Sydney. Artists featured: Linda Dement, Nancy Mauro-Flude, Kate Richards, Francesca da Rimini and Sarah Waterson. Bloodbath documentation was exhibited in genart_sys | a window on digital culture in February 2011. genart_sys | a window on digital culture celebrates digital arts practice as it exists now and where it could lead in the future. It shows the work of artists investigating what we can do with popular and portable new technologies, such as iPhones and wiimotes. genart_sys is a window on digital culture in Australia today, featuring 19 artists, collectives and organisations that have been supported by the Australia Council. It showcases a broad range of work across art forms, with a focus on the act of art making and experimentation.
