    Abstract

![CDATA[This paper examines solitonic solutions to the Korteweg de Vries equation numerically as the coefficient of the dispersion term varies, displaying the spatial and temporal evolution of the solution as it progresses to the point where it breaks and beyond. The results produced here form a useful insight into how light waves break when subjected to certain constraints, such as in the confined environment of an optical fibre, or in lasers.]]
