Abstract

Osborne et al. recently outlined the numerous potential physiological determinants required for the first woman’s sub-4-min mile. For this to occur, ∼75%–85% of ATP will be produced by the aerobic system, but maximizing “anaerobic capacity” will also be of paramount importance.
