Abstract
Cantata Journey is a film that tracks the story of the Sydney Symphony's Journey to Horseshoe Bend Cantata from conception to realisation and its significance to Australian as well as specifically Aboriginal heritage and culture. It follows the journey of the Hermannsburg women of the Ntaria Ladies Choir from rehearsals at their home in Central Australia to their triumph on stage at the Sydney Opera House. The film contrasts the physical qualities of Central Australian landscapes with Sydney’s unique urban scene its harbour and beaches. The inclusion of a variety of song and music gives a poetic dimension to the film that threads the story of Cantata Journey.
