Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

Market-based mechanisms, including carbon trading, have been used as a climate change mitigation tool for several years now in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Carbon trading occurs under compliance carbon markets, established by the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, under national and regional trading schemes such as the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and under the voluntary carbon market where millions of carbon offsets are transacted each year.
