Abstract

Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is an infiltrative disease, for which treatment options have historically been largely palliative. Significant advances in the last few years, however, mean that tailored treatment can now be given to
many patients, provided that the disease is recognised early and referral to a centre specialising in amyloidosis is made: early detection of CA is therefore essential. Myocardial strain echocardiography provides sensitive and specific indicators for detecting CA, may help to guide emerging therapeutic efforts and is featured in the following case presentation.
