Abstract
This paper discusses key questions of contemporary masculinities in Brazilian equestrian sports. By using the case study of a poor worker who became an acknowledged equestrian athlete, the paper argues that the relationships between human and non-humans can change the gender landscape in Brazilian dressage sports. The paper uses an array of qualitative methodologies that combined, bring an in-depth picture of old, new and changing masculinities in this field.
