Abstract

In this paper we prove the DipperÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“James conjecture that the centre of the IwahoriÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“Hecke algebra of type A is the set of symmetric polynomials in the JucysÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“Murphy operators.
