    Abstract

![CDATA[This paper is drawn from the first section of the introduction to my doctoral thesis entitled: Challenging Understandings of Racism, through Drama Based Education, Steps to an Ecology of Culture. The above quote is a comment from a year 5/6 student from Waterloo Public who had been peer taught the DRACON1 process by three year 11 Drama students from Cleveland St High School. It reflects the impact on primary and high school students, when drama based methods of learning are used to deal more creatively with conflict in conjunction with peer teaching. In this paper I introduce the research question, the project, its context and the methodology of creative action research and the theory of an ecology of culture that has emerged from the research process.]]
