Abstract
![CDATA[This paper, suggesting that training packages aim to encourage changes in practice through the development of new, flexible approaches to training and assessment, examines the outcomes of a study which examines the implementation of training packages. Data were collected from six sites across Australia and used to illustrate how training packages have been implemented in a variety of ways and how they have, in varying degrees, operated as catalysts for the development of innovative approaches to learning and assessment. The paper concludes that training packages represent the next steps to policy developments selected to ensure the adequacy and standard of vocational education and training (VET) in Australia.]]
