Abstract

![CDATA[Increasingly IT-based tools and applications are being provided for consumers to become involved in aspects of their own healthcare. Commentary on these artefacts varies widely as different areas of literature adopt different terminologies and perspectives in their discourse. Our paper provides a case study for how the literature available on this topic may be explored and classified according to a typology which was determined by structured application of PubMed searches. This has relevance to the more general design of approaches used for identifying IT-based topics in clinical literature.]]
