    Abstract

Because they enjoy privileged access to the private domains of people's lives, nurses are ideally positioned: to identify and assist families; to provide ongoing support to the most vulnerable and underserved; and, to advocate for changes at the policy and politics levels that will enrich the capacities of families, communities and institutions.
