Children's perspectives of different care settings : foster care, adoption and kinship care

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

"I would like to remind you of one of the greatest difficulties that we experience in the placement of a child - namely our problems about seeing things through his eyes, and adequately understanding and being sensitive to the real meaning of what he is trying to tell us through his verbal and non-verbal behaviour. We can never effectively help a child unless we can understand his reactions to his past and his fears for this future." (Littner, 1956).
