Christianity and social reform

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

    Abstract

Christianity is a religion of reform ... personal, social, structural, and communal. It not only reforms those involved in it" it also changes the rules in the societies where it is a vibrant witness. The result is not merely a tally of 'reform projects' akin to our modern NGOs, but a transformative process that has stretched across 2000 years. This process began i the early church, was nuanced through the Constantinian period, and is now owned, institutionalised and projected through the differing cultural mechanisms of the Western, Eastern and increasingly global churches as they embed themselves in their social settings.
