Abstract

Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide, emerging as what is being called ‘the epidemic of the 21st Century’. With a range of chronic illnesses identified as National Health Priorities in Australia and New Zealand, nurses – now and into the future – are being exposed to caring for people with chronic disease and disability across a range of care settings. For nursing students and health professionals, acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to work with people with a chronic illness and/or disability is vital to providing quality competent care. Following a successful first edition, Chronic Illness and Disability: Principles for Nursing Practice 2e is the only ANZ text providing the holistic framework, principles of practice and models of care essential for nurses caring for individuals and families experiencing the life-altering journey of chronic illness and disability.
