Abstract

![CDATA[The ability to provide safe and effective health care in an increasingly complex and autonomous environment justifies an examination of the nature of clinical reasoning in paramedicine. Given the important influence that clinical decision making has on the delivery of safe and effective care, this chapter describes models of clinical reasoning identified in the health professions literature, the relevance of these models to paramedic practice and the potential effects of cognitive errors and affective bias on clinical decisions and patient outcomes.]]
