Abstract

More than 1.3 billion adults are estimated to have high blood pressure (BP) globally. Up to 28% of the population in South Asia and 46% in Africa have hypertension.1 Hypertension is a major cardiovascular risk factor contributing to nearly 5 million deaths worldwide. Despite advances in BP measurement technology and the availability of safe and effective antihypertensive drugs, a large proportion of patients still fail to receive diagnosis and achieve a BP targets.
