Abstract

The chapter is the edited transcript of an online Zoom discussion across four time zones and five countries between the editors of this collection of essays about co-authorship and Katherine Gibson. In conversational interview, it offers a reflexive view of a life history of co-authorship as J. K. Gibson-Graham that spanned decades, oceans, and continents. It focuses on Katherine’s relational dynamics of friendship with Julie Graham and the ethics of care practiced by these two feminist economic geographers. The questions invite reflection on the inspiration for and commitment to their academic pseudonym, what it felt like to think and write together, and the lasting professional and personal impacts of co-authoring. It closes by considering how mentorship and solidarities are extended intergenerationally through the collective enfolding of graduate students into the embrace of intellectually generative reflection and writing.
