The issue of food and older people and food and dementia appears regularly in JCN (Chang & Li 2005, Lorefa¨lt et al. 2006, Watson 2006, Xia & McCutchen 2006) and the present paper by Mamhidir et al. (2007) is a welcome addition to the journal and to this field. I am pleased that Norberg, one of the pioneers in this field, maintains an active interest and was grateful to the reference to my work (Manthorpe & Watson 2003).
