Comparative Analysis of Environmental Impacts of Cut Roses in Australia, Kenya, and Ecuador

Research output: Book/Research ReportResearch report

Abstract

This study measures the environmental impacts of four Australian grown roses through the pre-production and planting stages to the packaging and transport to local markets. Two cut rose products are grown in an open field environment in New South Wales and Victoria, and the other two are in a protected environment in Queensland. Afterwards, the impacts are compared to those of the imported cut roses transported to Australian local markets, originated from Kenya and Ecuador, to seek opportunities to boost the local flower industry from the perspective of environment and sustainable production.
