N2 - Health research has generally been demonstrated to be of significant value to national growth and development in both human and financial terms by optimising Australia’s capacity to address the burden of disease.1 Over the last three years more than $32.7 million has been invested in complementary medicine research in Australia. Industry contributed approximately 37% of total funds, with a further 39% from all Commonwealth sources and 12% from universities. A total of $3.65 million was provided for complementary medicine research by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) while the Australian Research Council (ARC) contributed $1.4 million over the same period.
