Abstract
The design of squirrel-cage induction motors is formulated as a nonlinear programming problem, to predict a computer-aided optimum design. The cost of active materials is taken as an objective function. A constrained optimization method called the Complex Method is used to predict optimum design while meeting the specification requirements, formulated as constraints. The flow-chart diagram and design procedure is given.
