Abstract
This chapter draws together the findings from the previous chapters and provides an overview of the changing pathways evident in migration between Ireland and Australia since WWII. It highlights the extent to which post-WWII migration between the two countries represented a continuity or change in patterns, processes, and experience, not only across the decades it covers but also in relation to the generations of migrants who had preceded these more contemporary arrivals. Four key questions are used as a scaffold for discussion, namely why individuals and groups migrate, the factors underpinning destination choices, how migrants adjust to life in their destination, and the impact of migration on identity and belonging.
