Abstract
This book sets out to advance a practical, research-informed understanding of what it takes to deliver a net-zero built environment, and how smart and innovative solutions can help achieve this. It focuses on reducing both embodied and operational emissions across the full asset lifecycle, while remaining viable in real world delivery settings shaped by fragmented supply chains, uneven digital maturity, and competing cost–time–quality pressures. The chapters collectively argue that net-zero outcomes are not delivered by a single technology, metric, or assessment method. Rather, they are achieved through integrated socio-technological systems in which data, tools, contracts, governance, and human practices are deliberately aligned.
