Abstract
The implications outlined above provide educators and other professionals dealing with school violence, with some critical points to consider when reviewing the practices, policies and strategies they may be currently employing to counteract the different manifestations of violence encountered in their schools. In addition to practical implications for schooling sectors, the aim of the editors and contributors of this book is also to engage in research dialogues concerned with the socially and institutionally situated and culturally produced nature of school-related violence. Our commitment is to understanding violence beyond the terms of individual or family deficit and dysfunction, turning our attention instead towards schooling environments and their discursive norms.
