Abstract
Each year the newspaper and social media headlines are full of the latest corporate governance disasters, either linked to corporate failure, economic down-turns or individual corrupt behaviour. One of the challenges is to distinguish between the idea that some businesses do fail for a wide variety of reasons, of which governance is only one factor, and genuine breaches of corporate governance and compliance practices.
