abstract = "An investigation is made of the possible application of tuned liquid column dampers in reducing the wind-induced response of tall structures. The structure is modelled as a lumped mass multi-degree-of-freedom system taking into account both bending and shear. The wind excitation is modelled as a stochastic process which is stationary in time but non-homogeneous in space. The effectiveness of the proposed system is measured in terms of reduced motion and overall mass of the system. A random vibration analysis utilising transfer matrix formulation is carried out to obtain response statistics. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed damper system.",
