Abstract

![CDATA[To deliver Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) university’s work with students, staff, and stakeholders to develop strategies to shape global citizens. One of the several strategies include empowering students in developing sustainable lifestyle behaviours to facilitate their academic performance and wellbeing (Mofatteh, 2021). Our study aimed to conduct a university-wide anonymous online survey to examine student’s lifestyle behaviours and the impact of these on student wellbeing, to suggests ways of improving student academic success. (Balanza-Martinez et al., 2020) The lifestyle behaviours data were collected according to several factors including time spent per day for university study, work, physical exercise and sports, time with family and friends, social media and gaming and other activities. Data were also collected about students’ mental (WHO-5; Bech, 2004), physical (OECD, 2019) and university learning wellbeing (PISA 2018). The preliminary findings show positive correlations between physical wellbeing with time spent undertaking sport (r = 0.160, p < 0.000) and activities such as travelling, painting, and hobbies (r = 0.074, p < 0.005); but a negative correlation with time spent on the social media and video gaming (r = -0.112, p < 0.005). Similarly, we found positive correlations between mental wellbeing and time spent playing sport (r = 0.112, p < 0.005); but a negative correlation with university study (r = -0.147, p < 0.000) and social media and gaming (r = -0.130, p < 0.001). Universities can promote sustainable lifestyle behaviours through campus services in sports, travelling, painting and/or hobbies, where students can exert in for betterment of their wellbeing and success at university.]]
