    Abstract

Tony is an interpretive research PhD student. In this paper he takes this opportunity to re-think his accumulated large canvas meaning making as part of his PhD project. In 1996 he used "sense of self in the world" as a marker to attach to his own inner struggle for integration. "Sense of self in the world" is not so much a consciously maintained set of ideas as a space that a meaning maker can inhabit in times of reflective contemplation and also active review. Arising from this review, the authors suggest some possible implications for Tony's research candidature journey and for others pursuing similar paths.
