Abstract
There can be little doubt that CMS has been a powerful and successful academic movement. But to what extent is it truly ‘critical’? What compromises have been made, and continue to be made, in CMS writings and teachings, especially given the fact that they are invariably housed in university business schools? This entry provides a critique of CMS, suggesting that CMS is effectively in an adjacent and ‘junior’ relationship to management studies, and CMS scholarship does not seriously challenge management, companies, corporations, or capitalism.
