Abstract

![CDATA[Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people in Australia face unique barriers in the CJS. There is limited research on both CALD consumers’ and agents’ experiences within the CJS, from which this chapter examines these experiences within the Australian CJS. CALD consumers’ experiences of direct, structural, and cultural violence are explored to extend the discussion beyond racism. The intersectional experiences of CALD people are also investigated. This provides a multifaceted and nuanced reflection on problems that CALD people face in the CJS. The experiences of CALD justice agents are examined to provide insight regarding their contributions to CJSs and inform recommendations to address the barriers that they confront. Several recommendations should be implemented to better help CALD consumers and agents, such as identifying and reforming structures that uphold Whiteness or do not support CALD people with intersectional experiences.]]
