Abstract
This paper outlines a design optimization strategy for DC brushless motors with slotless windings. A design procedure is formulated to study the effects of various design dimensions on the performance of the motor. The design optimization problem is formulated as a nonlinear programming problem, and then solved by employing an efficient mathematical optimization technique. A numerical example of a high speed DC brushless motor is used for numerical results.
