Abstract

This paper deals with the design of switched reluctance motors (SRMs). The effects of different parameters on the design are investigated. The Finite Element Method is used to predict design and performance parameters. SR motors with different stator and rotor poles are studied to find an optimum configuration. The shape, size and design of poles are also studied. Useful conclusions are drawn as to optimum configurations for switched reluctance motors.
