Abstract
The paper presents a critical review of existing design methods for magnetic couplings. A parametric study is carried out to show the effects of various design dimensions on the performance of magnetic: Couplings. The design of synchronous type couplings with Nd-Fe-B magnets is formulated as a nonlinear programming problem. An efficient and powerful numerical optimization routine is used to predict optimum design dimensions.
