Abstract
Phil Jackson is widely regarded as the most successful high-performance team sport coach in history. Phil Jackson recently retired from coaching basketball in the NBA, after winning more championships (11) than any coach in professional sports. It wasn’t until Jackson brought his own style of leadership, one that stressed team success, that the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers began to win their string of world championships. Although these teams had talented players, it can reasonably be concluded that only after the players accepted, and even embraced Jackson’s leadership style, that team satisfaction and performance success followed.
