    Abstract

This paper presents a novel differential-fed Wang-shaped patch antenna. As a study of cross-polarization suppression when using a large air-substrate height, two types of feeding networks (baluns) have been used to excite the Wang-shaped patch via a pair of mirrored L-probes. As expected, the one fed by the wideband balun, which owns excellent phase and amplitude characteristics, exhibits a lower X-pol level of -20 dB across the 40% return-loss bandwidth. A further study on the orientation of the baluns is currently carried out.
